How does Occupational Therapy work under the NDIS?
Occupational Therapy (OT) is a capacity-building support that helps you work towards your NDIS plan goals. Here’s how it typically works:
Enquiry & access
You (or your Support Coordinator) contact us with your goals and plan details. We support NDIA-managed, plan-managed and self-managed participants. We can also assist you with this if needed.
OT assessment
One of our Occupational Therapists meets you at home, in our office, in the community, or via telehealth to understand routines, strengths and barriers (e.g., self-care, kitchen tasks, mobility, cognition, sensory factors, community access).
Goals & plan alignment
We translate your priorities into clear goals and a therapy plan that fits your schedule. OT sessions are usually funded from Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living (your plan may also include Assistive Technology or Home Modifications where appropriate).
Documentation & reviews
We keep concise notes and, when required, provide reports to support plan reviews and help demonstrate progress towards goals.
Team approach
With your consent, we collaborate with your Support Coordinator, plan manager and other providers to keep supports consistent and effective.

FAQ's
An FCA is an OT assessment that describes how you manage everyday activities (self-care, household tasks, mobility, cognition, communication and participation) and what supports will help you progress towards your goals. It’s often used as evidence for plan reviews. We complete FCAs in your home or community and provide a clear, practical report.
We can arrange assessments with a driver-trained OT when driving safety is in question. You’ll receive recommendations about rehabilitation, licence conditions and any vehicle modifications, plus guidance on the next steps.
